You can choose out of many and then you can preview the theme customize it without applying to blog and after finalization as per your need and requirement you can upload and publish your blog into public. This is a very simple and traditional method at the intial stage of blogging in the blogger.

Upload and apply downloaded themes
Generally Premium Blogger themes which you have downloaded. They were given generally in zip format. User's most of the time makes common mistake by directly uploading zip
file to blogger. Which is is not the correct way of uploading it. Blogger (Blogspot) flags error as they only accept xml file. So, one should always remember that before uploading themes on the blogger.
Now just follow the given steps.
Step 1: Download Template
There are some populate website that provides blogspot themes.
Download any template that you want some of them are payable while others you can download at free of cost. But after the process of downloading you will get a zip or xml file.
Step 2: Extract .zip File
Now select the zip file, from the folder where have downloaded and then extract the xml file from the zip file. Make sure that
extracted folder contain xml file.
Step 3: Upload the xml file
Now this is the final step of uploading the xml file to your blogger. Just go and click on template from dashboard. Then go and Click on Backup/ Restore . Choose the extracted xml file from the zip file and then click on upload. That's it you have done it. Congrats!!
